Taking a quick poll: Do you guys use various apps (online/on your phone) to track your workouts/etc? If so what do you use? What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? Do you find it useful?
Yeah, I have used both Nike+ GPS and MapMyRun. MapMyRun is free but Nike+ GPS costs money. The interface with Nike is better and easier to use. Has some functionality like setting "Power Songs" from your library so at the touch of a button you can pull some Steve Winwood to get you up that big hill. MapMyRun is pretty solid too ... not as clean and crisp as Nike but it also gives you a good map of where you just ran.
I used the free MapMyRun and for some reason I couldn't ever get the GPS to work, so I nixed it pretty quick. I just found "RunKeeper" which is pretty cool because you can set it to give you verbal clues every 5 minutes or so (distance, pace) or if you're falling off/exceeding pace. It'll also "map" your run for you, but one of the times I used it it messed up my map, so I'm still in the air on it.

ReplyDeleteI think Matt uses Nike+ GPS as well... I might look into that and start loading up the Winwood.
